Maria Del Carmen Rodriguez “Carmelita”, aged 43, of Chicago, IL, died surrounded by her loving family on December 12, 2023 at 2:54pm due to an ongoing battle of health complications. Carmelita was born in Chicago on March 30th, 1980 to Rogelio and Carmen Rodriguez. She was a native of Chicago for the entirety of her life and stayed close to her parents throughout her 43 years. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, tia, and friend. Although she was introverted and reserved in nature, she provided unconditional love to her family and friends. Her hobbies included listening to music throughout the day, self care days giving herself manicures and painting her nails, watching comedy movies to lighten the mood, and most of all: spending quality time with her family above everything else. Carmelita is survived by her parents, Rogelio and Carmen Rodriguez, her oldest brother Carlos Rodriguez and his sons Noel and Israel Rodriguez, her youngest brother Ricardo Rodriguez, and her sister Julie Rodriguez, and her children Jaime Escalante Jr., Jonathan Escalante, Jayden Escalante and daughter Julie (Mavracic) Escalante. Being able to help watch over her niece and nephews during their youth was one of her greatest joys in life. As health continued to affect many things throughout Carmelita’s life, one thing it could not affect is the compassion and love she had for others. Her life was a testament of the true meaning of family values that we should all hold close to our hearts. Carmelita’s services will be held at Richard Modell Funeral home located at 5725 S Pulaski Rd, Chicago, IL 60629 on Saturday December 16th from 3-7pm. In lieu of donations, the family asks for roses for the deceased as this flower brought her happiness. The family asks to wear blue in honor of her favorite color as this color brought her joy. Thank you to all who will be coming to pay your respects. May she rest in everlasting peace.
